Located in the center of downtown Rochester, the Hyatt Regency offers an elegant space for your wedding with all of Rochester close by. We love the Grand Ballroom which can comfortable hold the largest parties with room up to 750 people and the premium suites located on the top floors. The Lake Ontario Suite has huge windows throughout as well as a balcony that offers breathtaking views of the city including the Genesee River and Lake Ontario. For portraits, I love to take couples along main street and to the nearby parks for some greenery.
Brief History
Construction on the Hyatt Regency hotel initially started in 1985. However, all construction work was halted 2 years later in 1987 as the contractors complained that their dues weren’t being cleared. The unfinished structure stood for the next 3 years, until Rochester’s business leaders pooled their resources together and got the project rolling again in 1990.
When it was finished in 1992, the hotel consisted of more than 300 guest rooms as well as 2 ballrooms. A recent renovation in 2016 boosted the number of guest rooms up to 445 while also modernizing the hotel in many ways. The result is the elegant structure you can see in Downtown Rochester today, which, according to many, is the most upscale hotel in the Rochester area.
The Hyatt Regency hosts countless events and more than three dozen weddings every year. It’s one of the highest rated wedding venues in Rochester, and was awarded the Wedding Wire’s Couples’ Choice Award in 2016 and 2018.
