Rochester Wedding Venue – Strathallan Hotel and Spa

Located in Downtown Rochester off of East avenue, the Strathallan Hotel is one of the premier venues in Rochester. The ninth-floor glass ballroom is a stunning place to host your reception. Brief History

Rochester’s East Avenue is known for its historic background, and the site where this hotel stands today was originally a grand Victorian mansion. This mansion was torn down in 1970, and senior housing was built in its place. Shortly afterwards, the building was converted into the 151-room Strathallan Hotel in 1978.

Over the next few decades, the Strath earned a reputation of excellence through its extraordinary atmosphere and exceptional service. The hotel has undergone several renovations, with the latest one being in 2012. This multi-million dollar renovation included an indoor pool, a new restaurant, fitness center, rooftop banquet hall, and Char Steak & Lounge, as well as a remodeled lobby and bar area. To fully cover the breathtaking 360-degree views of the Rochester skyline, a new rooftop bar, Hattie’s, was also added at the ninth floor of the hotel. A subsequent deal with Hilton changed the hotel’s name to Strathallan DoubleTree by Hilton.

Aesthetics

The Strathallan’s central location in Rochester offers spectacular views from its 9^th floor venue space. For weddings, the hotel features two event spaces to choose from; the first is the rooftop banquet hall, offering unforgettable views of Rochester skyline. The City View Ballroom gets one of the best sunsets in Rochester, and a lot of couples choose to have their pictures taken at that time.

If you prefer a space that feels more personal, you can choose the Vogt Mansion, which is also known as the Century Club. This historic mansion has been especially renovated and the upstairs ballroom has been added to accommodate events. The beautiful dome and the iconic staircase of this mansion provide a great, one-of-a-kind background for bridal pictures. Every room and wall of this house is rich with history and will make your wedding unforgettable.

• Rooftop bar: Along with the event space, Strathallan also has a rooftop bar called Hattie’s. In addition to the breathtaking views mentioned above, the bar has a variety of scotch, vodka, and craft cocktails to offer.
• Fitness center: Strathallan also has an indoor professional gym with elliptical machines, weights, spin bikes, treadmills and onsite personal trainers to help you work out.
• On-site grill restaurant and lounge: The Char Steak and Lounge is located inside Strathallan and has homemade pastas, seafood, desserts, and, of course, grilled steaks. Furnished with artwork by local artists, its decor is quite elegant, and gives the place an atmospheric ambiance.

Strathallan has multiple event spaces for all types of occasions, be it bridal showers, rehearsals, or wedding ceremonies and receptions. The Vogt Mansion and the 9^th-floor rooftop space are both ideal for weddings.

Vogt mansion, also known as the Century Club, has a more personal touch to it with its renovations to make it a very stunning wedding space. It has an upstairs space for events, topped off with a vintage staircase and dome to make its outlook a historically rich one. Whereas, the 9^th-floor City Ballroom offers a deluxe experience, world-class accommodations, and delightful views of the city. It has enough space for up to 260 guests. The hotel also has upscale guest rooms and suites as overnight options for the guests.

Pricing

Unlike the rest of venues we’ve covered so far, Strathallan falls into the more pricier range. Although the overall costs of a wedding depend on the plan you choose along with inclusive options, the average cost per 100 guests is usually around $17,000 to $20,000. The hotel also offers complimentary meal tastings, champagne toasts, and a wedding night suite.
