The Lake House sits on an ideal location overlooking amazing views of Canandaigua Lake and was recently named the #1 resort hotel in New York state and the second best in the Continental United States by the Travel and Leisure magazine. We love the modern and simplistic design of the hotel. It really feels as if you are in a magazine but it is also easily adaptable to any style or theme for your wedding. The Rose Tavern is also a favorite place of ours for any special occasion. For pictures, the lake creates a stunning backdrop all day but we also really enjoy taking the bride and groom down the pier for portraits with the charming boathouses.
Brief History
The property was initially constructed in 1970 and used to be a beloved motor lodge, known for offering beautiful views of the Finger Lakes region. This motel went into foreclosure in 1993, and was subsequently reacquired to be converted into a hotel named Inn on the Lake.
The Lake House on Canandaigua resort, as it stands today, is a result of a complete rebuild replacing the Inn on the Lake after the property was acquired by the Sands family (who are the third owners of the property).
The rebuilding project was envisioned and undertaken by The Brooklyn Home Company. The aim was to build a resort that focuses on sustainability while also integrating the area’s charm and natural beauty. The Lake House on Canandaigua includes 125 guest rooms, two restaurants, a wellness spa, docks, and its own event space.
Aesthetics
The word “Canandaigua” means “The Chosen Spot” in Seneca Indian. Even before its redesign, this property was famous for its unforgettable lakeside views and breathtaking natural beauty. Countless couples have had their weddings here.
The new event space is located in the southwest corner of the property. The timber-crafted structure, known as the Event Barn, has been carefully designed to be minimalistic yet elegant. The Event Barn can accommodate up to 250 guests, includes a built-in bar, and has a dance floor adjacent to it.
The ceremony space is situated just a few steps away on a beautiful lawn and you’ll say your vows under the arch of a stately tree with the waters of Canandaigua Lake in the background. The setting is simply unforgettable.
With wooden floors and 125 chic rooms featuring stunning designs, handmade furniture, and custom bed frames, the property is a picturesque building on the banks of Canandaigua Lake. Anthony space can host 150 guests; and the Ontario Room has a capacity of 50 guests.
